On Tuesday January 6 there was an interview Ask Me Anything on Reddit of a billionaire-inventor, co-founder of SpaceX, Tesla Motors and PayPal Elon Musk. Today, he is the idol of geeks from around the world and he can compete with the icon of the IT-industry Steve Jobs in the number of fans.
The Musk’s answer for the question “What daily habit do you believe has the largest positive impact on your life?” was “taking shower“.
It’s not a secret that in his career Elon often faced severe challenges. He was asked how he coped with adversity and what advice he could give on this subject. To answer this question the billionaire quoted Winston Churchill:
“If you’re going through hell, keep going.”
Many people consider Musk one of the most educated people in the world. He is a mathematician, engineer, has made significant progress in the field of information technology, rocket building and automotive. How he manages to absorb so much knowledge? “I really feel like my head is about to burst!” – confessed Musk, adding that the manipulation of this knowledge costs him a lot. He also suggested that there is nothing special, just a lot of people don’t even try to learn something because of the belief that they can’t master much information.
Advice from Elon Musk: “it is important to view knowledge as sort of a semantic tree – make sure you understand the fundamental principles, ie the trunk and big branches, before you get into the leaves/details or there is nothing for them to hang on to.”
On the question “would you ever consider becoming a politician?” he replied: “Unlikely.”
The best teacher in his life Musk considers the elementary school principial, which decided to sub in himself for math. “We had to work like the house was on fire for the first half of the lesson and do extra homework, but then we got to hear stories of when he was a soldier in WWII. If you didn’t do the work, you didn’t get to hear the stories. Everybody did the work.”- saidElon.
The founder and the head of SpaceX celebrates hisachievements at parties. For example, the success of the launching of the Falcon 9, he planned to celebrate at Cocoa Beach.
Musk is very attentive to his sleep, he even counts his sleeping hours using the smartphone. After the interview AMA on Reddit he admitted that wouldn’t sleep more than two hours that night, but on average he sleeps 6 hours a day.
Elon Musk’s favorite airplane is the strategic supersonic SR-71, which is informally called Blackbird. The aircraft had been used from 1964 to 1998.
His favorite dishes are French fries and BBQ. Favourite alcoholic drink is whiskey.
Musk answered evasively, but intriguing on the question about how will look the new electric car Tesla Model 3: “It won’t look like other cars”
